We'll be the first to admit it: white-labeled parts in the tech industry have sometimes earned a bad reputation. And you may have questions after our PSU label recall, or after seeing coverage of our RAM sourcing. Here is the honest truth about who makes our hardware, how it performs, and why we stand behind it.

The Real Story Behind Our Manufacturing

We don't cut corners on generic, off-the-shelf white-label hardware. Apex and Manik partner directly with some of the largest and most respected Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the world.

The exact same factory lines producing our hardware are also building cases for some of the top-tier case brands, AIOs for the worlds leading System Integrators, and PSUs for some of the largest brands in the world. 

A Note On Our RAM

Apex often uses RAM with custom Apex/Manik heatsinks so it visually matches the rest of your build. The memory underneath those heatsinks is the same high performance memory you can purchase retail. 

We're not hiding that: you can confirm it yourself without opening anything, using free tools like CPU-Z or Thaiphoon Burner, which read the module's SPD data directly. Heatsink or not, every module is guaranteed to meet or exceed its advertised specifications: capacity, speed, and timings. If it's rated DDR4-3000, it runs at DDR4-3000.

In fact, Apex ensures that every single one of its PCs meets or exceeds the RAM speed purchased, with XMP enabled prior to shipment. We will never ship a PC with its RAM running at slower speeds than advertised/purchased.

What Happened With Our PSU Recall — And What We've Changed

In April 2026, we issued a voluntary recall, in partnership with the CPSC, for certain Apex/Manik power supplies sold between December 2021 and February 2026. To be clear about what this recall was — and wasn't — about:

  • It was not a performance or hardware defect. The affected PSUs met all functional and safety standards. The issue was that a batch shipped without the required permanent, on-product warning label about the electrical shock hazard present in any open PSU.
  • We caught it and reported it ourselves. Our compliance team flagged the labeling gap during a routine supply-chain audit and notified the CPSC within two business days — which is why it qualified as a voluntary "Fast Track" recall rather than an enforcement action.
  • The fix was fast and free. Affected customers received a mailed replacement warning label (or a free full unit replacement if preferred), free round-trip shipping, and an extended warranty on their entire system. 

Since then, we've tightened our supply-chain audit process so labeling and documentation gaps like this one are caught before units ship, not after.
